History of our location
Construction Age: sec. XVI; St. sec. XVIII
Building consisting of basement, ground floor and two floors. The facade is structured on 4 axes, with the high portal, in a handle pan, of the gang next to the two axes on the right. The decoration consists of logs on the extremity of the facade, framed sections at the windows, girdle between the levels and profiled cornice. The high roof, in two waters, with a ridge parallel to the facade, has two eye windows. The gang is vaulted on the cross and on the ground floor there are vaulted rooms on the cross on Renaissance stone consoles (wing towards the street). The facade keeps the baroque imprint. The wooden door, from planks arranged obliquely on 6 vertical registers, preserves the baroque ironwork.
This is where George Bariţiu lived in the last years of his life, and here his son, Ieronim Bariţiu, also lived. It was the headquarters of the editorial staff of Transilvania magazine between 1884-1892. In the sec. XIX the house was owned by Baron Eugen Salmen. After the First World War, the Baron's followers sell it to Vlad Simion.
